Instructor: Kristen Mason, PT, DPT, OCS, is a Credentialed Clinical Trainer recognized by APTA.

Kristen is a native of Simpsonville, SC and graduated in 2005 from Furman University with a degree in Health and Exercise Science and in 2007 from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2007 with her Master of Science in Rehabilitation Science – Physical Therapy.  In 2009, she completed her orthopedic residency through Evidence in Motion and a Doctorate of Physical therapy degree from Regis University. In 2013, she became an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist.  Kristen has worked for Proaxis Therapy since 2007 and serves as a junior faculty in the Orthopedic Residency, as the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education for Proaxis, and enjoys teaching and mentoring physical therapists and physical therapist students.  Kristen lives in Simpsonville with her husband, Chris, daughter, Mary Beth, and dog, Baxter.  When not working, she enjoys running, gardening and cheering on the Furman Paladins!

Target Audience:

Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Speech Language Pathologists and Administrators.

Description:

This voluntary program is designed primarily for people interested in or involved with clinical education (clinical instructors [CIs], center coordinators of clinical education [CCCEs], academic coordinators of clinical education [ACCEs]) and is recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a Clinical Instructor (CI) Education and Credentialing Program.

Continuing Education Credit

U.S. and Canadian Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants earn continuing education units (16 contact hours/1.6 CEUs) and a Clinical Instructor Credential.

Non-physical therapy providers earn continuing education units (12 contact hours/1.2 CEUs)

Prerequisite:

To be eligible to attend this course, all participants must complete and submit the participant dossier and accompanying documentation prior to taking the course. The dossier will be sent to participants once registration is received. The credentialed trainer will review all documentation to determine the individual’s acceptance into the course based on specified criteria (eg, current license as a PT or license/registration/certification as a PTA).

Early registration is encouraged. Registration is limited to the first 24 paid participants.

The registration form and fee must be received by this date so materials can be ordered from APTA.

Fee covers the cost of the CI Education Manual, Assessment Center, CI credentialing, CEU certificate, and registry in APTA database of credentialed CI’s.
